Overview

Your 4-day gorilla tracking and wildlife tour commences and ends in Kampala and takes you to Bwindi, southwest of Uganda for gorilla trekking and Queen Elizabeth National Park in the west for wildlife tours. Bwindi National Park expands for about 331 square kilometres and it offers refuge to about 12 gorilla groups, 350 species of birds, 120 mammal species, 220 butterfly species, 163 species of trees, 27 chameleon species, over 1000 plant species and many others. This four-day safari also takes to Queen Elizabeth National Park one of Uganda’s most famous savanna grassland parks which lies about 376 kilometres off Kampala and expands for about 1978 square kilometres. Queen Elizabeth National Park offers refuge to about 95 mammal species, 600 bird species, 10 primate species and it is popular for launch cruise and game drives.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Drive from Kampala to Bwindi
Breakfast early in the morning at your respective hotel in Kampala and after, set off to Bwindi National Park, southwestern Uganda about 8 to 10 hours’ drive. You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will take as many photos as you can and en-route; you will be amazed by the stunning sceneries. On arrival at the park, you will have dinner and overnight stay at Ruhija Gorilla Friend’s Camp for budget travellers, Silverback Lodge/Gorilla Mist Camp-moderate or Mahogany Springs-up market.
Day 2 - Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Early in the morning after you have had breakfast, you will be transferred from your lodge to your respective main tracking area for a briefing with the rest of the visitors and where possible, you can go with packed lunch. After, you will be assigned to one habituated gorilla family to trek with a group of eight visitors and a guide. On getting a gorilla group, you have an hour with these fascinating wild creatures.

After, return to the lodge for a rest and then embark on a cultural walk in the afternoon in the Batwa community where you will be entertained by their dances and drama performances. After, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Ruhija Gorilla Friend’s Camp for budget travellers, Silverback Lodge/Gorilla Mist Camp-moderate or Mahogany Springs-up market.
Day 3 - Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha area
Following breakfast in the morning, you will head to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the famous Ishasha area in the southern area of the protected area. En-route, sight at some wildlife species like bushbucks, elephants, gazelles, buffaloes, monkeys, Uganda Kobs, birds and not to forget the tree climbing lions.

Once you arrive at the park, you will have a quick boat cruise to the Kazinga channel in the afternoon for about 2 hours where you will spot out hippos, crocodiles and several bird species like African fish eagle, pink-backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, African skimmer, shoebills, saddle billed stork and others. After, return to the lodge where you will spend a night at the Mweya Safari Lodge-luxury, Kyambura Game Lodge or Enganzi Lodge moderate, Bush Lodge for budget visitors.
Day 4 - Do a game drive in the morning and return to Kampala
You will be served breakfast in the morning and then you set off for a quick game drive along the Kasenyi sector to sight at those species that you didn’t see while on a game drive the previous day. While on a game drive this day, you will have a chance to look out at wildlife species like the topis, elephants, buffaloes, lions, warthogs and others as well as some of the 620 bird species or alternatively, pay a visit to the Kyambura gorge for chimpanzee trekking.
